Week's Summary

Another week with a very solid total.  Usually I try to run about 75% of my max mileage about 2 - 3 weeks out from a full marathon and I managed to accomplish this.  I also needed to burn some extra calories to held me get rid of the extra calories I've been carrying since my Reno trip.  Give me a week in Nevada (and their delicious buffets) and I'll put on 5 pounds for sure.

I also cracked 1600 miles for the year.  Normally I am approaching this range in mid November, so I am stunned that here I am in somewhat late August with that many miles racked up.  One of my goals of running 2000 miles in a year will likely happen in October.

The air quality this week in Salt Lake City was awful.  I guess there are some wildfires going on in the area and the smoke seems to have settled in on the valley.  I couldn't smell it per say, but I definitely saw it (normally you can see Mount Olympus in the distance in this photo):

This Coming Week

With the Jackson Marathon looming in two weeks, it means I'll start the taper process.  Also, with my legs being somewhat fried during the early miles of the Herriman Half Marathon, means that I should probably take it easy.  Message received body....

So I should shoot for about 35 - 40 miles this week.

I also didn't see any upcoming races I am too interested in doing, so this will be a mild week.  I do take the marathon taper very seriously.  I certainly don't want to do a 26 mile walk.

Upcoming Races

09/5: Jackson Hole Wyoming Marathon (very very probable - I booked the hotel)
10/18: Duke City Marathon (Probable. Non refundable Hotel is booked for Albuquerque)
11/15: Las Vegas Marathon (definite)
