Week's Summary
It was actually a pretty cool week (temperature-wise). The last few weeks, Utah weather has been in the upper 90's or low 100's. This week, however, brought in a bit of rain and cooler weather, which actually meant that I could run right after work, which is my preferred time. Starting my run at 4:30 enables me to finish around dinner time and "calm down" so that I can sleep adequately. Finishing a run at 9:30 and trying to sleep by 10pm is rough and makes for a cranky "Eddie" the next day
The cooler weather also meant that I could bump up my mileage. Had I not been returning from Elko, Nevada on Sunday I would've cracked 70 miles. If I plan on really doing the full marathon in Jackson Wyoming I need to get my mileage up there (I haven't signed up and if I don't feel up to it, I may just do the half). Every time I've pushed 70+ miles in one week it usually yields strong results for an upcoming marathon.
While I don't wear a watch, generally, while running, I got in some quality workouts including some mileage at half marathon - marathon pace. I also tried to wrap up a few easy days with some strides, just to try and get some spring back into my legs. I don't think just plodding along pays that much dividends so I try to make the workouts bragworthy.

Upcoming Races / Double Racing
I almost did a double race in one day today. I was looking through UtahRunning.com last night and found a 5K up in Farmington that I was sort of itching to do. That would've meant running a 5K in the morning and then the 15 mile trail run in the evening (which I am sort of using as a training run). I told myself that if I wake up at 5AM (by accident -- which does happen a lot) I'd make the journey and do it. I did sleep pretty good on Friday night and didn't wake up until nearly 7AM.
I may try for a double race this coming weekend. I'll likely do the 10K on Friday night and if I can find a cheap, close-to-home 5K on Saturday I'll see if I can do it.
Here's my schedule:
07/11: Dam 15 Miler in Jordanelle / Park City Utah (definite)
07/17: South Jordan Midnight 10K (probable)07/11: Dam 15 Miler in Jordanelle / Park City Utah (definite)
07/18: Draper Days 5K (maybe)
07/24: Handcart Half Marathon (yes a Friday morning run -- maybe) In Utah 7/24 is Pioneer Day and largely a state holiday.
07/31: Legacy Midnight Run - Half Marathon - Farmington Utah (very probable)
09/5: Jackson Hole Wyoming Marathon (very very probable - I booked the hotel)
10.18: Denver Rock n Roll Marathon or Duke City Marathon (planning stages, Duke City is leading the way)
11/15: Las Vegas Marathon (definite)
