Week's Summary


This week was all about maintaining my fitness and getting ready for the Saints and Sinners half marathon in Boulder City, NV. I also felt a little flat from Saturday Candy Heart 5K and a follow-up 13 mile at marathon pace (or at least my wish of marathon pace).

Other than that, training this week was fairly flat and I was just mailing in my workouts.  Granted, I am recovering from the 5K and prepping for a half marathon, so there is only so much I can handle.  I also felt like I was coming down with a cold.  After every run I come back to the house and just cough like a cigarette smoker.  I also felt a little chilled.  The last thing I wanted before a destination travel race is a cold. 

Luckily, the cold never seemed to manifest and I felt 100% for Saturday's race.  My legs were a little tired and not terribly springy feeling.  I also didn't have a lot of confidence during the race.  I kept feeling like I was going to crash and burn and I think that played a part on race day.

The end result though was that I had a good race, although having a net downhill race almost guarantees a decent race result.  I think my true half marathon time is closer to my St George race result.

This coming week is going to be a much-needed break.  I'll be on the road and I need a bit of recovery time. I haven't taken an official multi-day break in quite some time.  My right knee is still iffy at times and the downtime will do me good.
