Week's Summary

Well I had a minor set back the past week or so.  The first week of my training I was dealing with my infamous ingrown toenail.  I had it taken care of back in October of 2017 but I found it hurting throughout the week.  In fact when I did my 2 mile time trial in 15:45 on Tuesday it decidedly hurt.

By Wednesday it was impacting my stride to the point where I was landing funny.  If you can imagine using your foot to pick up a die on the floor. Now imagine trying to do that while wearing a shoe. Finally imagine running while your foot is in that position.

After Thursday's run I had a pronounced limp and it hurt.  I was even considering sitting out on the 5K.

Luckily, I was able to run and then some but it had to be dealt with.  I did go back to the podiatrists on the following Monday.  He didn't see anything wrong with the nail but cleaned it up.  So far it seems to be holding up.

I just simply hate going to the doctors though. And to make matters worse, I hate when people touch my feet.  Even just someone looking at my foot makes me want to jump through the roof.  I suppose we all have our phobias.

Other than that, training has been going well.  I've been getting my miles in and the weather has been better than awesome in the Salt Lake area.  This is about the mildest winter I can remember -- ever.

My training looks decidedly marathonish, but I really haven't crested over the 18 mile mark yet.  So I am hesitant to say that I've put anything down on the calendar.

More Cat Updates

I pretty much run at the same time every day and every day I've been bringing cat food to a certain drainage pipe about 1.28 miles away from my house.  And every day, "Fluffy" has been waiting for me.  In the past few weeks she has NOT missed a meal.  It is one of the highlights of my day.

She (or it) is starting to warm up to me but still doesn't allow me to get close.

Weight Loss

Well first the good news.  I haven't gained weight.  I vary in weight though. On a good day, I'll hit 182.  On other days, I am a low 184.  I have been focusing on eating less when I dine out and really watching how much I eat at the buffets.  I know some of the keys for me getting faster is dropping weight.

Upcoming Races

I pulled the trigger on signing up for the Saints and Sinners half marathon.  I am excited about this trip and MAY double down and hit up the Lost Dutchman 10K as my travels will take me into Phoenix.  I am not sure I want to double down with another half marathon but being that I am doing there I may hit it up.

Either way, I am looking forward to an extended vacation of sorts and I'll get a chance to visit the Las Vegas area again.
