Week's Summary

This week was sort of tough for me.  Technically I am still recovering from the Sand Hollow Marathon that I did two weeks ago but at the same time, I still have a full schedule of races I'd like to do.  I was really feeling it this week and was actually tired and sort of unmotivated to really put much of an effort into my runs.  I did, however, plow through a lot of miles.

I need to get more dedicated and do some more speed workouts.  They just aren't fun and often are painful -- I'd so much rather just plod along at a marathon pace.  But if I really want to improve that's where I need to put the work in.

Little Bit of Runner's Knee

Before Saturday's half marathon I was experiencing a bit of achiness in my right knee.  In fact, I was massaging it up on the way to the race in the bus.  However, by the end of the race my right knee was 100% fine but my left was smarting.  Afterwards, on my hike, I was using a bit of snow to ice it down from time to time.  Hopefully it doesn't develop into something problematic and I am watching it carefully.  As of this writing (Monday 4/4) it appears to okay... so let's hope it stays that way.

I have a few non-refundable races in the near future and I need to stay healthy for them.

Upcoming Races

I did sign the dotted line for the Fort Collins marathon.  Looking forward to taking down another state.  The marathon was probably one of the most expensive I've ever registered for (aside from the time I paid to go to the Vegas marathon about a week or two before the end of the registration).  It was like $140+, which to me seems high.  I realize race prices are expensive but I've gotten by with marathons in the mid 80's to low 100's.

Hopefully it lives up to its billing.

This weekend also is another trip down south to the Summerlin Half Marathon.  I did this race in 2013 and it was a well executed race.  The course is challenging and while this year's edition is different, I am looking forward to taking in the sites of the Summerlin Nevada area.  Also, it's an excuse to go to Vegas for the weekend.

04/10: Summerlin Half Marathon (Confirmed)
04/23: Winter Striders 30K (Confirmed)
05/01: Fort Collins Marathon - Fort Collins, CO (Confirmed)
06/??: Looking at the Lamoille Canyon Marathon. Perhaps Casper again?
11/13: Las Vegas Marathon (Confirmed)
