Week's Summary

Another solid week of training.  I had a fantastic long run on Sunday.  The first 8.5 miles were fairly easy paced.  Around the half way point, I was like, okay, let's see what I can do for on the way back.  I didn't accelerate to 10K pace or anything, but I definitely kicked it up a notch.  I love it when a long run work out comes together.

On Tuesday I decided to do some speed work.  I really need to get more of it in -- I just generally dislike it. Once I am in "speed work mode" I definitely am in the groove, but just mustering the courage to deal with the pain and discomfort of running fast is scary.  Plus, it is hard to do after sitting all day at an office eating junk food and staring at a computer.

The weather is slowly warming up and the snow is disappearing.  I would say we had a pretty mild winter and I am looking forward to it warming up a little -- but not too much.  I am just happy to have gotten in a solid base during the tough months.

My Cat is Back

If you've read my blog for any length of time, you'll know that I am good friends with a cat named Snowball.  His owner lets him hang out on the bike trail.  The cat is super friendly but wary of people.  Luckily, he and I are good buds.  He usually waits for me on the bike trail (he knows my schedule) or if the weather is dicey he'll hang out on his porch and when he sees me come and I signal him, he'll come charging across the street to greet me.  I try to remember to bring him food (he isn't starving by any means) and he greedily gobbles it down.  He is such a sweetheart and spending a few minutes with him is a nice way to wrap up a run -- although I think he is more interested in my food then me nowadays.
