Week's Summary

Actually not too bad of a week.  I am still fatigued and a little tired from the Salt Lake Marathon and the subsequent 30K race I did the week after.  I just don't have a lot of oomph in my legs.

I did manage to get an impromptu speed work out in on Monday.  I sort of wish I had my Garmin to have recorded my pace.  I was moving pretty good and felt like I got in a quality session.

I did a 5K workout (of sorts) on Thursday, with 8 quarter mile repeats with about .08 to .1 mile of walk break.  I completed the workout, but I didn't feel particularly fast.  Looking at my Garmin pull, my strides were well off.  I also found myself fatiguing quite easily.  Granted it was warm but I certainly didn't have it.

The long run went okay as well but it was humbling to see a number of runners blow by me.  Of course, they are half my age but still I want to run with the big boys.  Accepting the consequences of going older and seeing your best performances in the rear view mirror is a difficult process.

Very quick and short hike with my mom up in Big Cottonwood Canyon

Upcoming Races

My mom is still in town and it isn't looking good for any sort of races in early May.  Hopefully I can squeeze one in at some point but I see her so infrequently that I certainly make it a priority to focus on her.  I am still getting in my training, but hard to justify ditching for a race.
