Week's Summary

As usual, this was a post marathon recovery week.  So I didn't do a lot of quality work.  6 days after completing the Las Vegas Marathon, I still have some minor soreness.  Also, my legs get tired easily. That is par for the course for post-marathon experiences and it will pass, eventually.

The weather is getting cooler here and runs are definitely more enjoyable.  Although, with the daylight savings time in effect, it means I have less time for it.  So often times, I am wrapping up my nightly runs just as the sun is setting.  There aren't as many people on the trail as well, so to me it is a little less social of an experience.


This coming week, I'll be running the Bountiful Thanksgiving Day 5K for I think the 4th time.  It is usually the last race of the year for me.  They always do a good job and with some luck, I can usually snag something in my age group.  It is also a barometer of how well I am running.

I am not sure what comes up afterwards.  I have some vacation time (actually a lot) that I need to use up by January 30th, so there is a good chance I'll do some sort of destination race.  I'd like to take down one more state.  I am looking at Texas, Louisiana or Alabama, potentially.

Losing Weight Progress

Almost always I gain a pound (usually two) when I do the Vegas marathon.  Because afterwards (and sometimes before) I pig out relentlessly at the buffets and it takes me all winter to lose the weight.

This time while in Vegas, I restrained myself -- a lot.  I did eat at the Bellagio pretty heavily (the morning after the race) but the rest of the time I didn't kill myself.  I also limited junk food and kept moving.  I was hoping for the best and while I wasn't a buzzkill, I did enjoy myself at the food trough.

When I jumped on the scale this morning I was expecting bad news, but I clocked in at 180.9, a very modest .3 of a pound gain.
