Week's Summary

With no races planned this week and with ideal weather I had a great opportunity to get in some quality miles.  After Thanksgiving's painful reminder that I am getting slower I made it a point to take up my training a notch.

I got a nice speed workout in on Sunday and Wednesday and wrapped up the week with a good 16 miler at sub marathon pace.  I also got a nice weekly total in terms of volume too.

I am also doing the #RWRunStreak thing -- which is run at least one mile every day from Thanksgiving until the New Years.  I've done it before and if the weather cooperates, I should be able to complete it.

You can see downtown SLC in the distance

Big Races

I don't have any big races coming up (i.e. marathons).  Part of me wants to take a break and the other part of me can't stand the thought of not training for "something" or having something to really look forward to on the calendar.  There are some indoor marathons in Utah but I am not a big fan of running around in circles on an indoor track for 4 hours.

The best thing I can do right now is remain patient, drop some weight and focus on getting my speed back.

We are starting to look at a destination race for early this spring so stay tuned.  Texas may be looming on the horizon.

Run Wrap Ups

One of the nice things about my runs is that I am fairly consistent.  I am on the bike trail about the same time every day and I usually run into the same people and critters.

I have a new fan, Snowball, who is an outdoor cat who just loves to meet and greet me.  It also doesn't hurt that I usually carry cat treats to share.  I usually spend a few minutes with him at the end of a run (he is waiting and watching for me) and then I give him a few bits of food and take off.  Cute cat that I'd love to take home.
