4th Of July Wendover Trip

I had the 4th of July off and decided to take advantage of a special West Wendover offer.  I had a free room for any weeknight.  Surprisingly, it was good for the night of July 3rd.  Also, because I am a regular sucker, they sent me another offer of a free buffet and $5 free play.  How could I refuse?

I left for West Wendover right after work.  I was on the road by 4:30.  Salt Lake City traffic is never that bad and I was out of the busiest sections by 4:45.  We arrived around 6:15.  I did some sports betting, got my ticket for my free buffet and instead of $5 free play, I got $10.  I was definitely off to a good start.

I didn't have much luck gambling but a free buffet never tasted quite as good.  The free room was also nice -- as we stayed at the Montego Bay Resort.

Neither one of us was having any luck so we decided to call it a night.  In the morning I did manage to get in a 6 mile run.  Instead of making my usual round around town I hugged Wendover Blvd and climbed a hill the leads to the outskirts of town.  I have attached some pictures of that.  Leaving the town was tough, but coming back was easy.  I also stopped by the Lincoln Highway exhibit and took pictures of the historical markers.

Overall, gambling was tough, but the 4x comps on the 4th of July helped make up for it.  I mostly played video poker and bet on sports (I pretty much broke even on baseball) and I did not do well on the heads-up Texas Hold'em machine.

I still have one more free room coming my way and the free buffet + free play is still good in another 2 weeks, so I am sure I'll go out there again soon.
