Week's Summary

It is really hard to contain myself when the weather gets cooler.  Despite having a full marathon coming up in less days than I have fingers I decided to push the envelope a bit in terms of training.  This was the first week where I got about 12.5 miles of quality miles in.  By quality, I mean half marathon pace or better.

I really don't run well in the heat and now that it is in the 40's when I am starting my runs, it is much easier for me to say "this is a quality day".  I also felt surprisingly good.

However, this week, I am going to have really contain myself.  Assuming decent weather and no major hiccups, I am hoping to do well in Vegas.  Normally, Vegas is my goof-off marathon of the year, but this year I want to try and make a significant improvement on my time over the last 2 years.  I know my legs can go the distance, but whether I have the speed and conditions is still up for grabs.

Overall, I am really pumped about the weather.

Marathon Maniac

I am still on the fence as to whether to join this group.  I have will have qualified for a 2-star status by the end of the year (8 marathons in a year).  I could've / should've gone for the 4 states in 51 days, which if I had run the Layton full marathon over the Layton half, would've covered me (WY, NE, UT, NM).  That would've gotten me a 3-star status.  I qualified for half marathon maniac status in 2012 when I ran about 5 or 6 half marathons in a span of 6 or 7 weeks.

Either way, if you are a member, I'd be curious to see if it is worth the annual fee.

Halloween Costume

Speaking of marathon maniacs, I went with a super easy (and probably not terribly creative) costume for a Halloween party.  I basically dug out all my Las Vegas Marathon bibs, grabbed more than I needed medals and made myself out to be a running junky.  Hey, it didn't cost me anything:

Plans for 2016

As usual, I am starting to think about 2016 and what states and marathons I'd like to take on.  If you have any suggestions, definitely let me know.  I think Colorado will be in the spring and I have my eyes set on California.  We shall see what happens and we'll see what the budget can handle.  I am running out states that I can easily drive to.
